We recommend a periodic wiping of mineral oil to keep the rich luster of the stone. For cleaning, a mild household cleaner is all you will need to keep your soapstone counter tops looking good for many years to come. Although you can use much harsher cleansers (they will not harm the soapstone) they will remove the mineral oil.
